I don't blame Sai's creator since it's made by one guy, but at the same time, I feel like he should have hired more people to work with him on Sai. Honestly, as much as I love Sai, it's probably going to die in a few years since Clip Studio Paint has more than caught up to it and the updates to Sai are painfully slow. The partnership isn't exclusive to Portal Graphics anymore as they now have their own website and want to branch off. I don't feel like it's a rip off at all.In fact, FA goes back to being in partnership with Open Canvas and was originally 59$ with OP which was ( and still is) around the same price. Sai is also just as good, but it doesn't support touch PC's which is a biggie since many like myself are choosing Tablet Pc's over Wacom. Clip is good but it can be a pain in the ass to edit lines. ![]() The more I look at it, the more I feel FA/Medibang ramains supreme for linework. Coloring on the left was done in FA, and the right was colored in SAI. Line-art for both was done in FireAlpaca. I've hardly used FA, so this may be biased, but I feel it has a lot more room for improvement than other programs I've used.Įdit: Left was colored in FA, right is SAI Overall, FA seems like a SAI wannabe/ripoff with very few features better than SAI, and SAI is still my favorite to use. The brush sensitivity/handling in FA was harder to work with (if there was a way to change that in-program, I didn't find it). Color picking in SAI is a lot more precise since it has tons of sliders, but canvas cropping is better in FA. There are a few more types of blending layers, but those are hardly worth it in comparison. I was trying out FireAlpaca and decided to compare how fluid it is compared to SAI, so here are screenshots of the same drawing colored in each program.įireAlpaca has similar feeling brushes as SAI, but there aren't nearly as many settings for them. ![]()
